    With Hong Kong and China s economic, political and social ties getting stronger every day, contemporary Hong Kong youths will inevitably encounter new identity issues as they grow. As exchanges and competition with their mainland peers are becoming more frequent, Hong Kong s young people also need to acquire life skills and communication skills such as Putonghua and knowledge about national affairs. Marriages between Hong Kong and mainland people have become increasingly common, and this may also affect adolescents experiences of growth and development in the  family . Under the framework of the Basic Law , political and social participation of Hong Kong youths is different from that during colonial times. Furthermore, the new identities , the concept of the family and life skills possessed by the youths of Hong Kong will affect the implementation of one country, two systems in the long term.
