Hong Kong Today←→Modern China

The concept of one country, two systems and the Basic Law provide frameworks for economic development, the outlook of the rule of law and social participation in Hong Kong nowadays. The identity of Hong Kong people cannot be separated from these two important concepts either. On the other hand, the importance that Hong Kong society has long been attaching to the quality of life and foundations to the rule of law has, to a certain extent, provided a model of reference for the development of modern China. Therefore, grasping Hong Kong s orientations of the quality of life, the rule of law and the identity of its residents will help the understanding of the reform and opening-up of China and its possible consequences.
