Hong Kong Today←→Energy Technology & the Environment

The prevalence of consumerism in Hong Kong today and the high importance attached to the materialistic quality of life in society has accelerated energy consumption and created substantial pressure on the natural environment and sustainable development. In view of environmental problems such as worsening air pollution, whether the government s policy of positive non-intervention is an effective solution needs deeper reconsideration. Whether the various social movements that try to protect the environment, to promote green thinking and to preserve the traditional culture of Hong Kong are capable of solving environmental problems also worth reflection. Besides, the increasingly unequal distribution and redistribution of wealth also influences the sustainable development of society. Therefore, whether the promotion of social justice and civic participation is helpful to sustainable development is obviously a very important issue.
