Usage of Concept Maps in Liberal Studies Context

The construction of concept maps is an important step in lesson preparation by Liberal Studies teachers. Apart from systematically and graphically displaying the relevant concepts of the issue to be explored, constructing concept maps also helps in designing cross-modular teaching activities which facilitate the collaboration and interactions among teachers during lesson preparation.

Sample concept maps and a concept map-drawing software are provided below. Teachers can design their own concept maps and save them on this platform.

Concept Maps Samples

The following sample concept maps make use of mainly the Relevant Concepts provided on this platform. These concept maps represent more than one possible way of concept map construction for the six Liberal Studies modules. These samples are provided only for teachers’ reference during lesson preparation. When teachers construct concept maps related to an issue, they should consider them in a cross-modular manner. There are no rules or rigid standards on the number of concepts to be used, and the number should be determined by teachers according to teaching needs and specific features of the issue under enquiry.
